Some tips on taking basic measurements of your body
- Use a cloth tape measure, not a metal ruler.
- Make sure the tape measure is level, not too tight or loose.
- Stick your thumb between the tape measure and your body to prevent yourself from drawing it too tight.
- Measure yourself on bare skin or very light / thin clothing that is worn close to your body.
- Try to measure yourself in front of a mirror.
- Be sure to write the measurements down as you go!
Wrap the tape measure right around your back, under your arms, around the fullest part of your bust to measure the circumference of your chest.
Measure the circumference of your waist (when you bend to the side, where your body creases is your natural waistline).
Wrap the tape measure right around your back, buttocks and hips, making sure the tape is wrapping over the largest part of your buttocks.
